Howdy! I'm Sean...

I started my photography journey back in the summer of 2008. I wandered the streets of NYC, taking random pictures –mostly blurry at first, trying to learn how to use my brand new Canon EOS Rebel XSi and an 18-55 kit lens. Before long, I began to impress more than just my family and friends. People started asking how much I charged for photoshoots. Since I didn’t have a portfolio, I said, “free!” I started to accumulate so much expensive photography gear that I had to start charging people. After many, many hours spent pixel-peeping in Photoshop (and many sleepless nights), photography was no longer my creative freedom. It became an exhausting second job. All the joys I found in it was gone.

After financially breaking even from all the photography-related expenses, I did what any sane photographer would do. I hired an assisgot rid of all my photography gear, swearing never to do it again. The lenses, bodies, strobes, modifiers, and battery packs all sold quickly on the forums and eBay. I wanted nothing to do with any of it anymore. So, I sold every single Eneloop battery, sync cable, neck strap and bag I owned, too! Whenever I saw people taking pictures in the streets, I turned away.

Fast forward a few years later and I’m now in Texas! I’ve picked up the hobby again, but this time a little wiser (hopefully). I choose to only do paid gigs if I want, when I want. Otherwise, I’m back to roaming the streets. Most importantly, I no longer dread importing images –I look forward to it.

If you want to book me and I agree to do a shoot, it’s because I actually want to do it, not because I have to do it. Only then can I promise you that I will give it my best. However, I still have a full-time career and a pretty busy life. So, don’t take offense if I say ‘no’. I hope you understand.

See ya around, and maybe through my lens!
